Whacked out Clown

My gold stripe maroon clown decided he did not like my new montipora digitata. I placed it in the tank, he proceeded to come from underneath and ram it! after it hit my braian (ouch) he picked it up with his mouth (duh) and spit it out at the front glass, he did this twice in 2 different spots. Then i moved it over to the side of the tank on the substrate, and he has left it alone!!!!!!
Is this normal behavior, why would this coral bother him? It wasnt in his way or near the elegance he calls home. Any ideas as to this behavior?

LOL!! thats funny saltjunkie. Got a question for you as well though, how long as your clown used the elegance as a host, and has the elegance suffered at all from the clowns presence?

I would say the clown and elegance have been friends for about a year. It took the clown almost a week to get used to the stinging i guess. He took to it very slowly and at some points it looked painful. The clown would get in, the shoot out, spinning, shaking and in general, just flipping out!
No it hasnt bothered the elegance, his polyp has almost doubled in size since i put it in my tank.
Here is a pic with the clown sneaking out!

thanks for the info, i was just curious because my pair of ocelleris clowns has killed my hammer coral. They tried climbing into him and the hammer refused to open its polyps and after a few weeks of their mad dashings they eventually tore the polyps enough that a bacterial infection followed. I have been thinking of adding a elegance but have been reluctant because of my clowns actions.

I have found that my percula/false percula/oscellaris (take your pick) clown will try to sleep in any coral I place in a 6" square in the right front corner of my tank.

I tried a Flower Pot coral and a Hammer coral in that area, but the clown constantly laid on them and the polyps were always retracted. It currently lives in a Green Open Brain, which seems to tolerate the clownfish well.

Likewise, if I move the GOB coral 2 inches right or left, the clown just hovers over the open sand where the GOB had been.
