Smile Pics of my tank

I finally got a few pics of my tank. My sister-in-law did a great job taking them! (Thanks Tish!)

I thought I'd share them for anyone who's interested. Here's the link:

I've had the flame angel for about a year and a half now and so far so good. If I knew then what I know now I don't think I'd have put him in. I do feed a lot so I don't know if that has anything to do with him leaving my corals alone or not. Funny thing is, the damsel in there with him is mean. The damsel is as big as he is. Attacks everything. But, they've gotten to a point now where if the flame sees him harrassing anyone he'll chase him off. It's almost like he's protecting everything from the evil damsel

Go figure.

Very, very nice tank! How deep is the sand bed? Do you have any nitrate troubles or external filtration?

Hi Stephanie!

Your tank looks great! Give your sister a pat on the back for us!

How do you have your refugium plumbed in?

The sandbed is really not that deep. 2 or 3 inches at best. It's been setup for almost 2 years, but for the most part it was a FOLR up until 7 or 8 months ago and I really started devoting some time to it. I just checked my nitrate the other day and it's still undetectable. (Knock on wood). I'm running a Turbofloter in my sump.

We just set up the refugium about 2 weeks ago. The sandbed in the refugium is at least 5" deep. Since I couldn't fit it under my sump, we just ran an overflow box on the refugium into the sump and then a pump in the sump pumps water back into the refugium. I'd have liked to been able to have it above the tank but with the tank, stand, and canopy being around 6 ft tall now (I'm only 5'3") I just didn't want it that high.

A little off topic, but I just wanted to say that I placed an order with Reefland last week and it was great. Very friendly and very fast shipping.

organicreefer.

You'll have to take a trip to your "hometown" sometime It's a shame to be born somewhere and not even know what it looks like. Valdosta is a decent sized town. Not too big or small. That's why we moved here. To get out of the hustle and traffic of the city (Used to live in Atlanta).

I'll give you this. You're certainly living a long way from home now

I'm running VHO's. 4 x 110 watt URI's. 2 50/50 and 2 actinic. I'm not 100% happy with the color of it but the corals seem happy. Next time I may substitute one for an Aquasun. I know the general opinion is that Halides are better, but for now this is working for me. In all fairness, if I was planning an sps or clam tank I think I'd go with halides.

Thanks for the Welcomes from everyone. I've been lurking here and a couple of other boards for a while and for the most part don't post. But, this board seems more open to questions. I've seen people post a simple question on other boards and get run into the ground with all kinds of criticism. Constructive criticism is a good thing, but most here seem more open to human error. I'm glad this board is here.
