hate to sound harsh, but you should take into consideration that angelfish's sanity and give it away, angelfish need 75gallon min some will tell you more
Man... I have to be the second downer, and don't feel bad, I fell for it too. I have a 55 gallon and a horseshoe crab... Apparently, horseshoe crabs get about 1 1/2ft+ in size and are colder water invertebrates.
Sorry... I just found out myself...
Well, I just bought this nano about 3 days ago. Guy left it with the live sand and the horseshoe and the angel in it.
you have some reading to do in that case sir, and you are on the right site, the mods here are amazing and knowledgeable. ninong is great, leebca is great for fish info.. do some reading and you will succeed!
the first thing i'd suggest is a complete do over, take the angel to a local fish store and hope they'll take it, there is simply no way it will live ever in that tank... same with the crab.
the polyp you described is vague at best and we cant help if we dont have a pic or more accurate description.
to answer your first question, adding live rock to a tank, you should consider at least 1lb per gallon, if not 1.5lbs. make sure its calcium carbonate rock from a good dealer. most place run $5 per lb.
Yea, ill be doing a little read now. I bought some live rock yesterday not alot but a little, i got 5.5 pounds of live rock which cost me 6.99 a pound.
I'll take a pic of the coral, and post up in a little
Any idea what the kinda yellowish stuff is
you should add a clean up crew asap, get some cerith snails and astraea snails, maybe 5 of each for now.
im not sure what coral that is.
The coral looks like a flower pot. Do the tenticeles retract at night?
Well I added 6 snails, There cleaning up the back wall of the tank pretty well. But the sand still is kinda yellowish, any ideas how to get rid of that?
The yellow looks like diatoms, just be a little patient and things will take care of themselves. The cleanup crew will help out!!!

Be Nice Charlie, We all had to learn, remember what I put you through
, and I'm a stubborn ole german, at least that's what the wife keeps telling me.
And MikeyMike, I'd listen to Charlie and a couple of the other guys in here, they have got a lot of knowledge, and exp. some learned the hardway, and they will do everything they can to keep you from learning the hardway. And besides, you should look at their individual post and the pics of what they have built, it's incredible. Trust me, these guys are priceless, for the rest of the hobby we got Master Card.
Tanks,
Robert
well, I mean it isnt getting any better, kinda looks worse.....![]()
Don't mean to dishearten you, but I spent 2 years fighting hair algae because I didn't wait for the tank to mature a bit. Grab a good book on saltwater setups, and sit back and watch things happen, and you will be amazed at what you discover. I found out that the cycle is one of the most interesting things about having a reef tank, and when done right, will turn out to be just beautiful!!!!!!
