I have done a freshwater dip before and it worked for me.
I am gonna move this to the Reef Aquarium forum so it may get more exposure Vicki.

Willis--1998-2009---I will miss you.
I have a flowerpot coral that has it and I rinsed it off with fresh water this morning but the slime is back. Of all things the flowerpot coral is probably the worse to deal with. Thanks Charlie.
Iodine based dips are quite successful in treating brown jelly infections.

So is it harmful to the other corals when you put the coral back into the tank after the dip?
Hello,
Brown jelly infections can be quite contagious to other LPS corals especially of the Euphyllia sp. (when I say quite contagious I'm referring to corals that are stressed. Healthy corals are seldom affected). The dip will kill off the pathogen and should greatly reduce the possibility of spreading to other corals in the tank. Quarantine is always the safest procedure however.

How many drops of iodine would you say you use in a gallon of water? I have 10% iodine. I did read if you use to much it will bleach your coral.
There will be instructions on the bottle as to strength and duration. Follow them closely and the coral should be fine.

Kevin
