    A first rate company " The Filter Guys"

    I am new to the Reef aquarium hobby. I thought I could use my well water for the system, but was warned by Ninong and others that was probabily
    not the best idea. Ninong you were spot on, my TDS from our well were 74 ppm. And also the last Culligan water I bought from the nearest WM " 90 mi away" was 64 ppm. So I thought it would be smart for me to spend some more money and buy a R.O. system.

    Someone on this site talked about R.O. systems from "The Filter Guy's" and I am so happy I called. First of all they give you specific info on the system that best serves your application. Answered all of my 10- 15 min of questions, and shipped the order that day.

    I installed the Four stage R.O. system and have 1-2 ppm TDS with 8 GPH.
    Soooo Happy !!

    Thanks to all on this site
    Mike

    I guess the Culligan service guy hasn't changed that membrane on schedule. They shouldn't have 64 ppm TDS. And you shouldn't have 1-2 ppm TDS with a brand new setup. I would call the guy at The Filter Guys and ask him about that? Sounds like something's wrong there. Maybe you need a booster pump or something.

    Don't get me wrong, 1-2 ppm TDS is fine, it's just that it should be zero on a brand new system. Is it normal to run 8 gph on that setup? Sounds a little fast to me. What's its gpd rating?

    Good luck!

    Setup is for 50 GPD.
    Yes we bought a booster pump because we are on a well water system and it runs at about 98 psi, and we get about 8 GPH.
    The TDS runs at an avg 1 PPM, but it varies from 0-3 TDS.

    Nice for us to make R.O. water here instead of going 90 mi each way.

    Thanks all

    TDS = total dissolved solids

    You measure it with a TDS meter.

    74ppm of TDS is quite remarkable for well water I'd say...you must have some whole house filter. Anyway...I've also done business with The Filter Guys and have happy results with them.
