Six-line Wrasse

Has anyone had any bad experience with keeping a sixline wrasse in a reef tank? What about good experience?

My daughter kept a six line wrasse in a 30 gal reef for 6 months. Absolutely no problem! She gave him to me when she had to break down her tank. I put him in my 40 gal FOWLR. Still, no problem. Nice little guy. I found him dead one morning.???? I don't have a clue.

I think they eat baby snails and such. I was going to get one but I found out they eat baby snails and I definitly want a healthy population of snails so I'm not going to get one. They seem very active and hardy though.

Had two for about a year, one died from the harassment from a hawk fish. After getting rid of the hawk fish the other one lasted for another year. Very hardy fish, will pick at live rock alot but ate anything.

I have one in my reef and I've never seen it bother any of my corals at all. It's got a great personality and is quite a beautiful fish. I'd recommend one for sure.

I have a pair i love them. Yes they will eat the pesky snails you get on clams. But i have never seen them eat any other snail. I have had mine at least 14 months no problems. P.s I have some small sps frags and they don't touch them.HTH

My 6-Line made a brunch out of the Cerith snails I had . He doesn't bother Turbos, tho. All in all, one of the most entertaining fish I've seen.

Six Lines Rule!

They will wipe out flatworms and parasitic snails from clams. The only problem I had was the first one I had jumped out of the back of the tank, the one I have now doesn't bother anything. They will eat prepared foods as well as pods, so its a good idea to have a sump with a good pod population, they can make quick work of the pods in a smaller tank.

My six line also just jumped out of my tank. I got lucky though. I walked down the stairs the other day and their he was laying on the floor stairing at me! I quickly put him in the tank but thought he was a goner. He swam around with no coordination for a while then he was fine. I normally am not even home at that time.very lucky!
But anyways awesome fish. Just thought I'd share!
