You gotta trust me on this one, in the long run, you will have a problem. There is alot of info on here about bioballs, please look around.;)

Ok ill trust youShould I replace it with carbon though? if so what kind would you recommend?
Remove them 1/4 at a time, say over the next 2 weeks. You can continue to run carbon in that spot you have for it.

Ok sounds good, What should I do about the Long fall of the water where the bioballs used to be? could I remove maybe 3/4 of them and leave some in to lessin the sound or do you have a better recomendation?
Can you get us a pic of what you are speaking of?

Yea sure, Ill get one in a few hours and post it, basicly the water flows into the chamber where the bioballs are located and then trickles through about 12inches of bioballs and then out of the base of the chamber. If there were no bioballs there would be a 12 inch waterfall in the back of my tank lol that would most likely make a lot of noise.
I see, I think I understand now. Yeah, that would make a little bit of noise. My real question is what the heck are we doing up this early/late?????![]()

coffeeeeeeeee
you could put a sheet of plastic at an angle in there so the water flows down it instead of falling straight into a pool of water. Or a 2" PVC pipe cut in half the long way to make a ramp for the water. Something like that would cut down on the noise and wouldn't impede the flow.

Even better idea with the carbon Charlie! That would give lots of "dirty" flow over the bag. Just gotta change/clean it often, otherwise, it can build up and become another nitrate factory...that goes with any filter media.
Great idea's guys! I will definitely do that Pvc and carbon bag Idea. And I dont know why I was up so late lol just couldn't sleep I guess. I actually was up later than that but for some reason my email didnt let know know anyone replied haha I figured everyone went to sleep or something.
So as for my fish combinations.. Would 2 False Percula's and a midas blenny combined with my scooter blenny I already have work? Would that be to much for my 29g, just right, or could I even add more?
That sounds fine stocking wise, although percs can get aggressive (moving my hi fin to a 10g tank because my clowns pick on him).
Why not put cheato where the bioballs were?
Speaking from exp. as I started with the 14 bio cube, lighting the area where the bioballs are located is a royal pita, with it being a all in one hood, it makes mods on these tanks a little more difficult, if you light the bio ball chamber you will also light the tank, that is if you can even get a light to mount in the area provided, when using this area for a fuge or putting cheato in there, the lights need to run opposite the tank lights, see what I mean.
Tanks,
Robert
With a submersible light you could light the cheato relatively easily (I've seen that on the aio's).
That would work, providing you can find a small enough unit that will put out enough light to actually be beneficial, just googled them and most are single LED lights and you still have a very small area to work with, as this chamber we are talking about is a major part of the flow area in these units.

I found my solution to my bioball chamber!after lots of research I found out how Im going to turn that chamber into both a fuge and a floss/carbon filter as well as cheato. As soon as i get it set up I will take pictures and post because It is rather hard to explain.
