The second collecting trip for marines for the show

This is the second collecting trip for aandtsociety show stock.
Just another trip to get some nice fish and inverts for the beenliegh show tanks on one of the calmest days imaginable and in the strongest current.
The current this day was extrmemly dangerous and had to be handled with a lot of care or end up in New zealand and there are no jesus lines that long!
This is how calm it was.

    A nice little halichoeres chrysus.

    A shy little dark cardinal.

we don't normally bother with moorish idles, but this one will be handy for the show and while Mark looked after it he has gotten attached to it.
This one was gotten from a discusting area and there are no corals or much of anything else there really, they are tougher that way and this one eats out of his hand in just few days in the tank.

This is the avergae colour of the melanopus clowns around here, its a nice nature so far,not normal for these fish, lives well with the latz, akyndinos and skunk.

These wil look great in the tanks. Now mark wants more, the colours will be mixed up in the next ones.

There were lots of blue tangs and a couple of latz, but we have some so we didn't bother.

Its good fun, good excercise and you learn so much about the workings of the sea and life with in it.

Puts a serious understanding of how to copy the natural functions into a marine aquarium.

If you want to have a look at our club thread on the subject and the links to our pages on our area and collecting check out the links in this thread.

Links to surf cams, weather,SEQ dives & snorkel sites, how to collect & rules & regs in Q

Oh and the next thread is why we collect our own.thats in the members section i can't put that thread link in so i will copy the words over to you.

These are the benefits to our collecting apart from money saving

Firstly, we know where to find them, how to catch them, how to bring them back healthy and the ways in which to keep them, both the old and trendy ways to have a successful piece of the ocean in our homes.

Some of the most important outcomes of our well carried out collecting trips, in relation to the fish and inverts we get is, the stress once it has achieved the 48 hour serious internal damage mark, as a lot have the potentially from the retail and wholesale time to you, this doesn’t exist with what we get, the adrenalin damage that looks like a drug caught death is nil with what we get, the sometimes not so good systems that give fish nitrate poisoning before you buy it that can look like a drug caught death as well, with we what we get is nil, as well!

We will use ammo lock and PH buffer and air stones in our buckets for the short trip until in their new home, so ammonia burns and damaged gills and depleted oxygen damage are nil as well.

The potential for diseases in old water from waste and toxins from sick or damaged fish and fish such as dice box and puffers are nil as well.

The educational benefits from watching and understanding how they live in the wild,is invaluable.

    Its a win,win,win situation
