    Hey Jeremy,

Yeah, I'm gonna do it sweet this trip, slow and easy, working on somethings for the tank as we speak, I think it is going to come out very, very nice. Keep an eye on this thread, it's gonna be a fun learning exp. for me and hopefully some others.

    Tanks

re: Parrothead's 180-gal reef tank build:

I've been bending Charlie's fingers quite abit on this, just to bring you up to speed, I'm converting a 20 gal. into a sump/fuge, there's a link at the bottom of page one, also planning on a closed loop/manifold for the tank as well, working with the 12" width on a 55 limits the available real estate, and with the loop/manifold, I can eliminate the powerheads for flow, and just have the skimmer and overflow box hanging in the display tank, not so cluttered, will be running the loop/manifold with a mag 9.5, and the return from the sump will be either the 9.5 or the mag 12 with the cpr overflow to match. Still drawing, but plans are coming together nicely.

re: Parrothead's 180-gal reef tank build:

Figured I'd better get an update up here, got a message wondering how it was going, You know who you are.

Anyway, the remainder of the gulf aquacultured rock along with all live stock that remained was rehomed late last week, I purchased a couple of fish to keep the sand bed fed, so as not to lose it. See attached pics

    1) 1.5" Maroon Clown
    2) 2.5" Blue Line Grouper (Temp. Resident)

All that remains is the sand bed and the above 2 mentioned inhabitants.

Will be going to work on the sump this week, got delayed a bit last week with a blast from the past.

I've decided to keep the org. sand bed as is for the rebuild, it's established and is doing well. As well as a pile of sand can

That's about it for the moment got some work to do here this morning before it starts raining. Will get some other details up later today.

    Tanks,
    Robert

P.S. The Blue Line is very camera shy, sorry about the pic quaility

re: Parrothead's 180-gal reef tank build:

    Ok,

I know I said I wouldn't get stupid again, and I haven't, now that we have that on file, my semi-favorite lfs got some rock in, noticed it about 3 weeks ago, didn't say anything but have made a habit of stopping by to check on it. Did buy 2.5 lbs, see attached pics, I know, WOW, what a buy, Guys and Gals, don't go there. But, it is light weight, I don't believe it to be the totoka rock that I want, but since all other rock was gotten rid of, needed some in there, he does have a piece he is holding for me till friday, it is about 12 x 14 x 3-4 inches, and weighs in at 8.04 lbs, he put it on the scale, anyway I'm babbling, too many adult beverages if there is such a thing, please look at the pics, primarily the first one and see if you can recognize the type of rock. The pic sucks, but it is a little larger than a standard baseball and weighs less than a pound.

    Thanks in advance.

    Tanks,
    Robert

p.s. the third pic I just had to throw in there, she's our Halloween Kitty for obvious reasons, showed up on the porch one morning and the wife fell in love, who am I to say no

    Charlie,

I did ask, but the guy that owned the tank is one of those navy guys whose location is not always known as being accurate, get my drift. That's the problem with living in a Navy town.

re: Parrothead's 180-gal reef tank build:

I had picked the big piece up that is still in the store, I wouldn't have put it at 8lbs, I thought way heavier cause of the gulf rock I had, but he put it on the scale and it came in at 8.04 lbs, big piece, he's got 2, might try to figure out how to get both, by the way, remember the skimmer I was bi@#$ing about, tore it all the way apart, scrubbed every inch and now it actually is doing something, I still don't trust it, and will still be moving up to the remora pro, but figured this useless piece of info needed to be mentioned, just kidding, it works for know.
