Hi Guys. Just wanted to post on my experience today.
Have been struggling with Bryopsis and have been losing the battle. Came across some information that elevating your magnesium to between 1500 and 1600 ppm with Kent Tech M would kill all the Bryopsis. Have been doing some research and indications are that this will kill the Bryopsis and not harm any livestock. After doing said research and not finding anything to lead me to believe this wouldnt work I went ahead with it. Have had my Mg at just over 1500 ppm for about 12 hours now. Livestock is showing no ill effect save one. This is the really cool part. I have been trying to get rid of a small population of flatworm for a while now too. Tried Flatworm exit which my Ricordias hated and made me aware of quickly. Took them quite a while to recover and sadly, the flatworm exit didnt even kill all of the flatworm. Did a second dose and still couldnt kill them all even with elevated concentration. Today, however, all the flatworm seem to be dead. Seems they dont like the elevated magnesium. Bryopsis is still hanging in but they say it will take about five days to kill it.
Just thought Id let you know. Seems like a new method for killing not one but two reef pests. Take it for what its worth. Will let you know what happens with the Bryopsis
