Sorry I can't help with a diagnosis, but I would suggest running carbon. Leathers can be toxic to other corals.

my tank is carbon activated 24/7.. my filter is FX5 on 72gal...
i did a water test everything looks fine
amonia 0.0
nitrate 0.0
nitrite 0.0
ph 7.8
this reading is according on the color chart of the test kits
0 nitrate? really?
You're not using test strips are you?
How old are your bulbs?

This happened to me with a very large mushie it disintragated for no apparant reason, I suggest you move it asap or you will chance pdlluting your system
i think my bulbs is roughly 3 or 4 months.. its coralife two 65 watt 10,000K Daylight and two 65 watt True Actinic
ohh and i use the drops test kit
It looks like it could be RTN. You can use airline tubing to siphon off the dying/necrotic tissue and then you may want to give the coral a dip in an Iodine solution like Pro Coral cure to help prevent the spread of the RTN. The dip helps prevent the introduction of flat worms in your tank and also acts as an antiseptic and hopefully prevent/treat tissue necrosis in damaged corals.
