was at pa today and the had a small colt coral died pink. is this ok for the corals life span or not? it was a pretty coral but expensive 80 bucks, scared of it's life span.

How do you know it was dyed? Are you sure it want a carnation coral?

the japanese are dying some corals Ive heard,not sure of the life span.

Well, I guess I will be the first to say that I am totally against this practice. Why would you want to color something that is as beautiful as it already is. I wonder what the long term effects of this practice is. I.E. how does it affect the overall health of the coral in the long run. I do understand asthetics but I think that this is carrying it just a little to far. IMHO
Why would you place someting in your tank that wasnt intended to be that way in its natural state? I have seen several of those dyed corals in japanese tanks and it makes me sick to my stomach, if you want fake pretty corals buy petryfied pieces.Sorry about venting this is just my opinion.
