    Re: twisteds salty adventure

in the mornings when the room is light by natural light it is green and brown. the guy at the fish place said it was a blue one and had it under pure actinics. when i got it home and pulled it out it was pure white...it was one of those...redeyed, not paying attention impulse buys...im glad it is coming back and will give it all the time it needs. i am digging the acros though. i plan to get a few more frags real soon. i think the rest of the frags i get will be sps.

It would be nice if you could get an ID on them, or at least an idea Twisty. I know........................ an acro is an acro. Well yes and no. An ID would be nice because I have a book that can tell which part of the reef that coral does best on. Does this guy quarantine his stuff, check them for redbugs???

Your other acro will probably be just fine, give it time. It may or may not ever turn the blue color that he said it was.

Redbugs:eek3::eek3::eek3:, I was reading about those little b@#$%^&s the other day when I was trying to identify that creature that is now swimming in my septic, those things are down right distructive, redbugs that is..

i went to the fish store today to talk to the guy about the acros...the one that has yellow polyps is a tri color valida, the one that has the white tip is supposed to be a blue tort. the one i bought bleached he called a green stag but im not sure if that one was pulled out of his......he doesnt qt anything nor check for red bugs but all corals that go in my tank, by the advice of a friend that has had a tank for about 15 years and swears by this method, is a peroxide dip then an iodine dip. and trust me, i examine everything under a big mag glass before they go into the tank. i think i can almost say for certain that i dont have red bugs....ive jjust always thought that without mh lights, i would have to sacrifice since i was using t5

The only thing that kills red bugs is interceptor. You may not have them, but that dip isn't gonna kill em. At least in my experience twisty.

You have to have a keen eye, they are really small. Do you know, if Steve, QT's his acros?

All corals, fish and inverts should be QT. No I don't. Actually it's not funny because one day thing could turn ugly.

No, it isn't funny at all, I have treated my 300 2 times back about 4 years ago. You don't know what it is like to lose shrimp, crabs, corals and what is in your sandbed. There is more to acropora than being pretty colored sticks friends, do your research.

All I know about are Red Bugs and Flat Worms.

I didn't actually check them specifically for anything but I view my new corals very closely with a magnifying glass.

    Re: twisteds salty adventure

    Charlie,

    I'll be dipped in interceptor

when you had mentioned it earlier, I didn't put 2 and 2 together, I thought you were talking about something totally differnt, followed your advice and started reading about acro's and red bugs, the same stuff I give to my mutt(he's sleeping on my lap again, thinks he's a lap puppy)to control heartworm and other beasties, wow is all I can say, hope I never have to do it, but if I do, I can't wait to see the look on old Doc Pages face when I tell him I need some to treat my reef,

    Who'd thought.

    Thanks Charlie, excellent info
    Tanks,
    Robert
