Your new big tank is gonna be BEAST twisted. Hope to get an invite to the scuba session once you have it all set upIm saddened at the thought of your sump being bigger then my whole tank!!!!
i was real lucky on the rock....so far i've found a little patch of what i think are radio active zoas and 2 little blue zoas that are on the back side of it!...nothing bad so far...the mandarin is one of my favs! he is a cool ass fish...just give it a good amount of time b4 you add one...they eat alot of pods!
Ask Parrot if he needs some piranha,I heard he was looking for some.

I'm not telling.![]()
well, i gotta be honest...the elegance coral took a long time to find the right spot in my tank. after reading a few articles i decided to put it in the worst corner of my tank. meaning lowest flow and the corner where all the crap piles up. its been there about 2 weeks and is close to the point that i could say its thriving. i thought it would make a nice center piece, but this one prefers to be on the sidelines. oh well, live and learn.
Look at it this way, it hide all the crap that piles up there, and it will probably dine very well

Every once in a while stir the crap up and let it feast, hopefully the rest will make it to the skimmer.
that just what i've been doing and it really seems to like it. they are such beautiful corals i was afraid i was losing it.
I have read that a lot of people lose them because they don't research them, and realize that they are used to less than ideal conditions, that in fact are tanks are to clean for them.
i just did the wrong research...i posted a link to elegance info i found a few pages back, it probly saved my elegance. it looks so much better and happier.
2 pieces of tank glass came to my buds shop today. the last piece he is gonna cut in half or whatever to make the sides. i've got 300 lbs of rock in a curing tank i rigged up at our wharehouse. this was all dry rock that is actuallly real nice for base and scaping. i figure about 3 months for that and after a month, i'll be adding another 2 to 300 lbs of kalieni rock. by the time the tank is ready that rock will be good to go. then the curing tank is going in the drop closet we are building under the house. it'll be a little tight but ill be able to move around for maintanance. the trap door will be in the closet we added for electric. this is all being coordinated with our remod crew thats doing an addition to me casa. i think the hole in the wall gets cut around mid feb. did i mention the other side of the tank is gonna be my headboard?
Looks like it's getting closer to rafting time,I'll buy a wetsuit now.Don't have any wild *** things could get wet.
im hoping to breed a bunch of cleaner shrimps and such in the curing tank along with whatever else i might need for that size cleaner crew.....i figure whatever i can breed now will save cash in the long run. im thinking of useing natural sea water for my start up. i have lots of friends that are commercial fishers and can get me 800 gal of good water from way out there. the salinity is around .021 out there so it gets me close. with cycled rock and good water i shouldnt cycle too bad
Sounds shrimpy to me.![]()
I would imagine natural sea water would be best...I mean it's essentially what we're trying to mimic with our synthetic stuff. God did it best!
New Setup in progress. 75 Gallon reef.....still trying to figure out what I need. Your help is much appreciated.
that would be my guess too. Today im gonna start researching balancing equipment. i really like the way mike from the dec. reefkeeping centerfold dude has it set up and will most likely follow most of his design. he is using the same sump set up i plan to use only mine will be 150 gallons bigger. i do have balancing equipment that is use in commercial swimming pools that i think will work well. they do the same thing in the way of calcium and ph and alk. im waiting for a call from one of my distributers to talk compatability.
I'd be really really careful using natural seawater, even if it comes from way, way out, you can still get some nasty pollutants just from what the boat puts out, becareful
