    help with remora protein skimmer?

i recently bought a remora with maxi jet1200 pump , it was slightly used but in perfect shape (new pump and collection cup). its been set up for 2 days and i am still seeing alot of microbubbles and the cup is only gettin wet ,clear foam that turns into clear water. the cup is adjusted as high as possible and i have used aqua safe in tap water to top off evaporated freshwater, wich ive recently stopped since new ro/di got here ups. is it workin right? does it still need to break in even though it was used? will the microbubbles go away? and is there anything i can do to reduce bubbles?

Give it a week or 2 and it will break in. The bubbles should reduce as it breaks in.

ok i read it was a few days and it was 2 and it wasnt gettin any better so i wasnt sure but thanks for advice. also, the bubbles seem to be stressing out a wall hammer that is next to where the bubbles are returning into the tank,i was thinking i should move the hammer temporarily until the skimmer breaks in,will the bubbles stress out corals?

Yeah, I guess you may want to temporarily relocate it. An excessive amount will stress some corals out, I have bubbles in my system and they are doing OK!!!

    reefer,

As stated above the microbubbles SHOULD subside within about a week. If not you may want to consider a an overflow pre-box for that skimmer. It fits over the MJ1200 so that water is skimmed from the surface (just like a real overflow box) but it also has an output section that contains a small sponge in it that acts as a microbubble filter.

I have recently upgraded my Remora to a Red-Line 125 so if you're interested in the pre-box let me know. Pay the shipping and it's yours.

The skimmer box will slightly increase the skimmer efficiency (10% or so). Also make sure the skimmer is level front to back and side to side.
