About LinkBacksI've had my emerald crab for several months and today just noticed that he has many little tiny whitish "bugs" running all over his body. I've been getting mixed messages on the internet whether these are OK (copepods). Are these usual for emerald crabs? Should I take him out of my main tank and re-quarantine him, if so what to treat him with?

quick get him a flea collar!......seriously though....do you have a pic of it? i have a couple emeralds that i do see the occasion pod picnic on its back but only a few....

I just bought an Emerald crab today, and also noticed these tiny clear/white spots that move all over it...so i did a google search on this, and found this thread. They look like little bugs, the size of a period <.> and kinda make me itchy when looking at them!

I swim with them, eat them, catch them, care for them, but never get tired of "them"....

I've had my emerald crab for several months with the bugs and they haven't disappeared and he hasn't died or stopped eating. I don't know what the deal is, if you find out please post.
I guess our crabs do have crabs!

I believe there small crustaceans and quite common for crabs to have them,they shouldn't be harmful to the crab or your fish.

I figured out what my critters were... they were copepods!
