    Nano reefs, anyone?

Was just wondering if anyone around here is into nano reef aquariums, or what your opinions on them are. I know some people (like me) think they are really neat if you do them properly and know what you're doing before you start one, but some people just don't like them.

Does anyone here have a nano reef? Or several?

Which one did you have. I would like to try one of those biocubes for seahorses, got any suggestions.

I know a couple of guys that have nanos, I think returnofsid still has his. I know he wouldn't mind a nano forum.

    Re: Nano reefs, anyone?

I had a standard 29 gallon tank, which isn't really a nano reef. I was looking at starting up either a nano cube or biocube, not sure which yet or what size. My brother has a 12 gallon nano cube and has kept it running and pretty happy for several months now. His first saltwater aquarium ever. He wants something bigger than that now though, like a 24g nano cube or something like that.

Anyways, if there is enough interest here I would love to have a nano forum!

    Re: Nano reefs, anyone?

nano's can be great. I consider my 60 a nano because there just isnt room in there for a tang! I consider any tank too small for a tang, should be classified as a nano!
nano's can be a huge PITA if not setup for automation. i cant deal with having to topoff every day or even twice a day on some. the ones i really like are setup as a species tank with one, large coral and a small fish or two.
I had a 20g tank setup a few years ago, but i did it all wrong and wound up tearing it down and planning my 60g with lessons learned from the 20g dissaster.
