Thanks Charlie! I should also point out that the tank I keep SPS in is a 90 gallon tank but is only about 18'' deep. I run two 250w 20k halides on that tank. My other tank is also 90g but is deeper, probably regulation 90 size or close to it... since I only keep softies and a couple of SPS corals in that tank I run two 175w 10k halides on it even though it is deeper. I have several types of zoas that seem to like the lower light levels on the bottom of that tank.

Have you ever looked into going with T5 on the softie tank?

I considered it for the energy savings but everything's doing so well in that tank I decided not to. I have noticed too that LPS doesn't do so well in my frag tank which is lit solely by T5's. They do not die in there, they just don't thrive. Conversely, LPS (or at least the species I have which are mainly Candy/Trumpet corals) grow like crazy in the 90... Probably 2-3 new heads per month.

True that! I'll try to get some tonight... don't mind all the algae though as I STILL have not implemented a refugium.

    Re: Deathies 110 Gallon

So i went to my LFS and talked to the guy about what kind of skimmers he has and would suggest.

This is what he told me:
    -Euro Skimmer G3
    -Berlin Skimmer Turbo X2

Also i was looking at the Koralia Powerheads and he said itd be good for my to get the stage 4 (1200gph) like i was thinking.

I think the T5 lighting system is a little too expensive at this stage, so he said i could get away with just better compacts then what i have now, but should upgrade for corals and such which is fine by me.

He said that if i can find something for sale or cheaper online and bring it to him, he said he'd match the price right there. The powerheads are 53.99 on sale online and he said he has them for 69.99 all the time so i could save money on those and my skimmer if i can find it cheap online, help me search!!

What do you guys think about those skimmer and such??

Im taking pics for you right now Charlie

    Re: Deathies 110 Gallon

It looks as tho you have alot of room to add a couple of PC lights, and as your LFS told you, get rid of what you have, those 50/50 bulbs are crap, as far as I am concerned. It sounds as tho your LFS is a good guy, take his word on the lighting until you can upgrade. The PC's will get you by for the time being. JMHO

    Re: Deathies 110 Gallon

yeah thats what i was going to do. He said a system of the T5's would be at least $395 for me... i was like.... O.O holy crap. i thought i was just taking a bad lose on my skimmer xD maybe i could sell my biocube xD

I was thinking about running 2 more pieces of wood across and just adding 2 more rows of lights, with all upgraded bulbs.

If that is what you can afford right now, do it. It sounds like your LFS guy will help you.

    Re: Deathies 110 Gallon

He's turning out to be a good guy and not one to try and screw me over.

BTW: i want to start a Reef Adoption Program. For a low fee, you, yes, thats right YOU can own your own piece of LIVE ROCK!!!!! in my tank. Each month you will receive a picture and short story on how your rock is doing in my tank. And for a special 1 time low fee offer, you can also help adopt a skimmer and a live rock, thats right, you can say you're the proud owner of a hard working Protein Skimmer. Think about how jealous your friends will be at the big party of the year when theyre bragging about their kids, BOOM! you whip out your picture of my Lve Rock and Protein skimmer and you can brag about how your little darlings help keep things alive, you can basically tell them youre god, youll be the life of the party and show little sally sue that youre the man!

    All payments go to:

Haha, thanks for all your help guys.

    Re: Deathies 110 Gallon

Its the best looking rock youve ever seen

So i think im gonna get to 1200gph powerheads, put them by the bottom of my tank behind all the rock and point them at each other from across the tank. Will that help the water flow enough for my BB?
