Automatic Feeders for Reef/Top Off
Good news is I'm gonna see the real Reef in Grand Cayman - bad news is I will be out for 7 days.
Can anyone recommend: - A plan? - Can I go without feeding or should I pick up an auto feeder? If so, which do you recommend? - Is there a simple top off system I can put in place pretty quickly? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks |

Hmmmm,
You should be able to go for 7 days without feeding, Top off is going to be the biggest problem. I would setup a float switch of some kind. I use a flost switch and 35 gal drum filled with RO\DI water. It last about 7-10 days (150 gal reef) I wll be setting up a Liter meter (dosing pump) next week connected to my float switch, I have had too many floods in the tank room using my current top-off system (all my fault) At least with a dosing pump it wont pump 35 gal of RO\DI water in the sump in 15 minutes ![]() |

i just returned from a 6 day trip to NY and if it werent for my auto feeder i think there would have been trouble in my tank since my aldabra dottyback has been eyeing my cleaner shrimps and my tangs get restless when they dont eat. I have the Eheim auto feeder from Pet whse Eheim feed air digital
and for topoff i use a kent float valve on the 180 and on the 10g i use for the baby hifins i use a 1 liter sprite bottle filled with water and placed upside down in the corner of the 10 g between the frame and the glass top...hth |
