Can't make anything out on those pics... Try to get a close-up if possible.

I'd say some type of hydroid. Not sure if those are problematic or not but if they multiply rapidly they could be regardless.

It's not a very clear photo but they're probably sponges. The more I look at it the more it looks like sponges. Sea squirts start as little stalks as well.

    Re: Id

I don't think it's sponge. Sponge doesn't spread that fast. Tunicates/sea squirts is most likey what it is. I have had them in one tank where they spread every where. The one factor that was differnt in that particular tank from my other tanks...the nitrates were very high. This was a tank with three large eels, and a big angel. Also the tank had been up for nearly four years. they started showing up after year two, and by year three, they were every where. It didn't bother the owner, and they are harmless, so i did nothing to stop them. Also in that tank i thousand of little tiny feather duster type worms on the rock...again i contribute this to the Nitrates. (I also have these in my sumps and overflow boxes)

I honestly don't know for sure, but i think the high nitrate levels are what they thrived on.

Since there only seems to be a few, just pluck them off.

Also, i do get them in my sumps in a lot of my tank.
