I built the 180 into a exsisting 6 foot closet using 2x6 and 4x4 to hold the weight if the tank. Here are a couple of pics.
Wow nice sump/fuge. Is your tank 180gallons?
New Setup in progress. 75 Gallon reef.....still trying to figure out what I need. Your help is much appreciated.
Lol ok you're still posting pics. The closet converted into a built in looks great. How long did that take to build?

The process took me about 2 months to finish and I wanted to take my time. I added shelves to hold the transformers for the power compacts and metal halide lights. I purchased a Hamilton light kit with 4 96 Watt power compacts and 3 250 watt metal halide 14k bulbs and 9 Watt moon lights.

Very nice. I like how you have separated your ballast from the main tank cabinet areas (heat heat heat heat)..How are you venting the area...and how are you venting the lighting area. Also, where is the chiller going, and "how are you venting it"
Also, what is the huge 4" PVC pipe for?
EDIT: Never mind. I looked at all the pics. i can now see it is a sewer line. LOL

I swim with them, eat them, catch them, care for them, but never get tired of "them"....
The tank was purchased at a local fish store and I really got a good deal. The store was closing one of the store fronts and selling all of the new display tanks and this 180 with dual overflows was going for $750 and was able to get the price down to $625 out the door. The only thing I had to do was take the tank that day. My son and I took the tank and carry the tank down to the basement and I can't believe we did it and here are a couple of pics of the tank. I painted the back and the sides black:
Here is a couple of pics of the sump filled with water. This project took the longest and after I was done I tested the sump with water and I had a couple of leaks but I was able to fix the problem:
Here is a couple of pics of the tank up and running for about 6 months. I move all my corals from my 75 gallon and all my live rock which was about 75 pounds. I added another 110 pounds of live rock. Here are a couple of pics:
Here are a couple of close up of other corals:
Wow that's a beautiful setup. Are you a builder by trade or is it just a hobby? How long have you been keeping saltwater tanks?
