    Heteractis magnificam problem!! (pictures included)

Hello everyone. I have a major problem here with my anemone. I have a unidentified anemone ($80) and a bubbletip anemone. The bubbletip is doing great and ate the shrimp i fed it yesterday, however, the other anemone did not want to eat it and spit it out everytime i tried to feed it. Now it looks like this..(the one on the left that looks dead)

It won't eat shrimp, which is the only thing i've tried feeding it so far(tomorrow, I will try silversides), and spits it back out as soon as i put it in its mouth. This is the second day with it being in my tank, which is a 12 gallon aquapod nano with a jbj clamp on 150 watt metal halide. There is a powerhead directed right under him. He still has colors, but tentacles are flat and mouths open pretty big. Help please.

    Hi xiong.s2460.mccd,

I hate to break this to you but keeping two different species of anemones in a 12g aquarium is just wrong. Even 100g aquarium can be too small for keeping two different species, they are such powerful competing organisms that can ustilize not just physical contact for a war but chemistry as well.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Yep, it looks like the bubble tip is winning that battle

You may try running some extra carbon until you can find a new home for it... This may help remove some of the toxins being emitted from the other anemone.

thanks for the help, but unfortunately, RIP anemone. I checked and the ammonia went up from 0ppm to .50ppm. I took it out before it took everything with it. It was falling apart, i.e. the tentacles started to fall apart from it, more and more.

    Lesson learned.
