Can texas holy rock give off calcium? My calcium levels are a little high and I'm trying to narrow down the cause.

I don't believe so. Ph has to be really low for the rock to dissolve to release calcium, providing that the rock you mention is indeed a calcium carbonate type rock. If I remember correctly this partilular rock is calcite, however it is still need to dissolve to be a problem. For that ph needs to drop below 7.
Kind regards,
Gene.

thanks zhenya my ph is 8.3 so it can't be that. Guess I better test my tap water again.
Haha! It's not "holy" rock, it's "holey" rock. It has holes in it but I don't believe it's blessed by the clergy.

Aragonite begins to dissolve when the pH drops below 7.7 and calcite begins to dissolve when pH drops below 7.4, but you're right, it would have to drop well below 7.0 to get any significant calcium benefit -- which is why we inject CO2 into calcium reactors.
I didn't know Texas holey rock was being used in reef tanks. I knew some people used it for freshwater African rift lake tanks but I didn't know it was popular for reef tanks.
