all are still used but you always want to test for what you add first.....the only thing thats changed is better lighting, filters, and test tools.......welcome to the forum!

I am starting my first reef in seven years, and was wondering what supplements I should be considering. I do regular water changes, but in my old system I also supplemented with strontium, iodine, magnesium, and iron (and obviously calcium). I'm not sure what has changed....

If you're using a good salt mix and running a calcium reactor or using a two part solution you shouldn't need to add calcium or magnesium. Strontium and Iodine I don't test for but I'm guessing the same goes for them too. Ideally the you don't need to add anything aside from top-off water and fish food.
