A while later
Here are a few pics from my progress. My goal is still the same..Want to keep it clean and simple. No SPS planned in this one...Still not sure if I will keep everything the way it is now...
A few weeks ago I pulled the trigger and ordered the Elos Mini.
I have been looking for a nice Nano that fits the style of the family room. I wanted also more the "all-in-one" as I don't want to have cables and all kind of other equipment everywhere. Having to travel a lot for work it should be easy to maintain also.
I have been going back and forward between several nano rimless systems and just felt in love with the sleek design of the Elos.
Agreed it is not the cheapest system (and you pay for the Elos logo) but it has just that special something. At least for me.
Also I got the Elos e-lite LED lights. Even being a big fan of the AI LED's and their quality the module is just to big to match the sleek design of the Elos.
For my purposes the Elos light will be the optimal. I liked also the ATI Powermodule a lot but I wanted to avoid the light reflections around the tank and needed a light that just lights up the tank and nothing else.
Besides the Mini I got the following:
ControllerReekKeeper LitePowerhead
RKM SL-1 Module expansion for PH probe and ATO
Digital Aquatics Double Float Switch Kit w/ MountsVortech MP10 (running in reef crest mode)Filtration:15lbs of fully cured Fiji, Marshall and Bali LRSubstrate
Chemi-Pure Elite20lbs of Aragonite Live Sand Fiji PinkBelow a few pictures of the setup and initial landscaping:
The tank arrived
Initial Sump setup
I got those silicon trivets from Target to place under the pumps to eliminate vibration...WORKS GREAT!!
Trying to keep things organized
From cloudy to crystal clear

Am I missing something here? Like a year or two? Beautiful tank but ..... "a while later" it looks like that!!
Not sure what else to say. I can't even post pictures like that, let alone have what appears to be an instant perfect nano tank. Impressive I think.![]()
how long was your tank set up before all that was added? ii have a feeling there wasnt but a few days between the set up and purchase of corals....i also have a feeling you may not like the results of a quick setup....that being said, the tank and all looks nice. i hope it stays that way. if you didnt let the tank go through the right process..................................
I'm with you twisty, I got a bad feeling about this one, unless like chasman said. but it not, then you know whats gonna happen, and after looking at the pics again, it is a new setup, notice there is not one spot of coraline on the glass or diatoms on the sand or any other algea anywhere but the coraline on the rock, too clean to be an aged system
Tanks,
Robert
"a Reef tank is like a garden, you grow one, not buy one"
its frustrating when these ignorant people think they can just buy what they want when they want and dont give a dmn about the life they are killing....."i think ill buy a salt tank today and put in all these pretty corals next week......what a waste
Hey guys, I understand your worries
I should have mentioned I have another established bigger system running in another room. I used fully cured amd mature LR and the first water fill was about 50% from that system also. Some of the new live sand was also in that system to seed it. Therefore it was not complete new setup when it comes to that. Also almost all of the corals came from the other system and had them in there for a longer time also. There never has been a cycle and all my "bad" parameters are 0 or close to.
twisted: As I said I should have mentioned how the tank was setup and I understand you not knowing this I understand completely your worries but at the other end you could have given me some time to respond to this before you start calling me an ignorant person who give a dmn about the life I am killing.
I have setup many tanks so far and always have been very responsible about my corals and fish. At times when it was a complete new setup without old LR, sand or water I waited up to several months before even putting something in the tank. I think I can say so far I never killed anything in any of tanks because of ignorance
sorry max, i jumped the gun a little...we see so many potentially beautiful systems go up "in a day" and then they argue that they know something everyone else here doesnt....your tank is really nice and im glad it was done the right way. i hope you can accept my apology and have no hard feelings....
thanks michael, oh, and welcome to reefland! i look forward to your tanks progress and awesome quality pics!
The tank looks very good,I'm impressed.Carefully thought out too.
Kind regards,
Gene.
