    Re: What does this mean?

The water is great for me..i have a 14 G nano cube and it hasn't damaged any corals and my clown is doing great. The water can probably be old or something. i did notice the bags have an expiration date

This quote obviously tells me that the water you added was not at the same temperature as the water in your tank. That is not good, ever jump in a shower with just the cold water running. What are your levels of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?

just tested everything, everything is good. The fish are fine now and the temperature in my tank stayed at 77 degrees the whole time.

I bet it did. Now that the fish are fine that means the problem is not there, the problem did not just disappear. You took that water and just dumped it in just like you said. I wasn't born 4 hours ago.

I feel like that was a somewhat weak attempt to be rude, but i'm not quite sure.

Thanks for the help anyway haha.

    Re: What does this mean?

    Jgis,

Glad everything turned out ok. My bet it was nothing more then an O2 issue. The water from the box may have very little O2, and when you changed it out, it dropped the level in your tank. Shocking and stressing your fish. It mostly likely temporarily dropped your temp and pH. The combo of the three was to much.

If you can, take the aerator off the power head, and install a air pump with a air stone. Two reasons, using the aerator will lower your flow and circulation rate on the powerhead and it can also agitate the fish. The fine air bubbles flowing all over the take can stress the fish.

Using the air stone, it will create plenty of gas exchange, but won't send bubbles all over the tank.
Also, the airstone will help circulate the water from the lower column of the tank...make sure you use a small checkvalve on the air line.

    Mike

Edit: Ignore steves rudness...he seems to be like that quite often. I would be also if i had to deal with the snow and weather they are getting back in Ohio. Having lived in Ohio and Pa, and worked in Columbus during the winter, I feel his pain. LOL

I swim with them, eat them, catch them, care for them, but never get tired of "them"....

I have never heard of that before. The only tests that I have seen show that it has NSW levels of all trace elements except for the fact that it has too much lead, probably coming from airborne pollution from industrial facilities onshore.

Scrips water is not filtered...it is "natural" sea water.
We used to have a Reefland board member who lived there and he used nothing but free Scripps water. He said there was a large pool filter (sand filter) at the end of the pier???

I have not seen any of the test results from Catalina Water. I have tested it for Nitrates, Silicates and Phosphates, as they had a reputation long ago for not filtering the water enough, andit was said that they had detectable levels of all three...I however never had any detectable levels. I did test the pH, and it was as low as 7.6, and as high as 8.0...and the delivery driver said they dumped buckets of buufer into the holding tanks to get the pH up to 8.0 ....with regards to Led, "to much Led" based on who's standard. EPA? I find that hard to believe, but I really don't know. Led is naturally found in water....so what levels are you talking about. Also, The Aquariu of The Pacific, gets all of its water from Catalina Water Company.

I honestly, have never been to the scripts institute, other then the White Sea Bass grow out pens.....so I don;t know about the sand filters.....even if it they had a sand filter, that would not remove metals and chemical pollutants, nor would it remove bacteria and chemical pollutants....

I had no problems with the water i bought from that particular supplier...all I am saying is it not as purified as Catalina Water companies water. I would use both in my aquariums, but would prefer Cat H20 Co.

Sorry, they all suck. The one that i have found to be the best was made of plastic rings. picture 10 small green rings stacked on top of each other, and you twist them, or turn them like you would a lids..this tightened them like nuts on a bolt. The tighter you made it, the finer the air bubbles. It works great...but I have not been able to find them in YEARS. I still have one in a tank that is over 8 years old. NO BS. Replaced the pump 5 times, but the air stone is still going.

Unhappy Re: What does this mean?

UGH Things still have not gone back to normal!

I tested all my water parameters today and they were all perfect, Ph 8.0, temp 77 everything else zero.

    cant figure it out!!!

They are eating, and swimming but they swim to the top every once in a while and gulp for air. I dont get it.
