Thanks. Im sure I will have more questions.![]()
You need 35lb.of sand for one inch of sand,if you tank is 48"x18".
Okay, thanks! How does this live rock look? Will 90 pounds get me started?
Live Rock Fiji Premium at PETCO Rock Sand
the price per lb isn't bad, but you do not quailfy for the free shipping, figure at least 1.00 per pound for shipping, most rock is shipped overnight, 2nd day air, or air freight, air freigt auto charges at 100 lb min. regardless of weight, and thats per box, keep shopping,
I am not in the habit of posting no - sponsor sites, but here is an example of what I'm talking about

Isn't free shipping at $175? If I order 2, 45-pound boxes, that would be over $200
Parrot,your typing to fast again.![]()
Read the fine print in petco ad, free shipping applies to orders over 50.00, but check out the exclusions. The 175.00 for 50 lbs in the link I sent you is shipped for free, petco is not, like I said check out the exclusions

OH! I see now. Well, there is another $100 bucks i can add to the total cost. YAY!
Like I said, keep shopping, you've got the time, you don't even have the tank yet, research is part of this hobby, a big part, so happy hunting
Also you don't need to add all the rock at once, you can get started with 45 - 50 lbs, and build from there, this would simply require an extra powerhead and a good plastic tub to cure future rock purchased. Keep that in mind as well![]()

Can someone give me some example livestock plans for a 75g and 90 tank, if thats possible?
That's really not possible, it all depends on what you want to keep coral wise, some fish are reef safe, others are a crap shoot, others will destroy a reef, some corals cannont go together, see what I mean.
Thats why I suggested you take the time now while you are in the saving mode, research what you want and the compatiability of what you want. Follow me

Okay, thank you. I found a guy in my town who has a 90 gallon pre drilled tank that I am going to look at after school today.
The tank that I looked at is a 90 gallon Aqueon all glass pre drilled aquarium with a built in overflow with a Aqueon stand. It includes a 30 gallon sump with a refugium. A Coralife 260W compact fluorescent light w/ led moon lights. A clamp on light for the refugium. A coralife light timer. Coralife protien skimmer. 300W heater. 750GPH powerhead. Pump for sump. 200 pounds of sand. 150 pounds of live fiji rock.
Is this a good setup that I can build off of?
Make sure the owner has never treated the tank with any copper based meds, the skimmer will require an upgrade sooner or later, preferrably sooner, they ain't the best in the biz, the sand would be the only draw back, I'd use fresh sand, plain old aragonite, and try to save the top 1 inch of what is in the tank before you move it, you can remove it with a spatula, hurl the rest, and you will probable need another powerhead, look at the korilia(sp?) K-3, I'm not a big fan of the power compact lighting, but it will get you going. Looks pretty decent.
Again, make sure the tank has never been treated with any copper based meds![]()
