Parrot, can I add a couple fish yet?
I considered that an option too. Maybe build a cabnet around it.

Depends, what did you have in mind?????

I was looking at a pair of maroon clownfish. They are the only fish that I really WANT.
I don't see where that would harm anything, go to saltwater aquariums forum here at reeflands and read about the proper way to acclimate your fish. And make sure you get some healthy ones....

Got a pair of maroon clowns last night after my trak meet! Ill try to figure out how to get a couple good pics on here.
Did this work?![]()
yep, it worked, now don't go rushing out and adding everything you see, even if they look small in your tank, your clowns will be adding to the nitrogen cycle, allow the system to catch up and in the mean time start thinking about what corals you would like to have etc, just go slow and you'll be fine,
You've done real good so far, keep at it![]()

When I go to buy my lighting syestem whats going to be the prefered about of wattage per gallon? Ive been looking at the Nova Extreme brand. I think the 6 bulb unit is the one im going to get.. Is this overkill or do I need more than this?
That light will be ideal on your 55, I gonna be replacing my light on my 55 with the same thing, that light will let you keep just about any coral or clam you would want, and stop thinking watts per gallon or I'll have to sic Charlie on you, he straightened me out on that antiquated way of thinking, you are more intrested in par value than watts, but the nova extreme pro 6 bulb will be perfect![]()

Okay thanks! My aquarium to do list.
1. Order new lighting system, return pump and overflow box.
2. Call glass shop and order a peice of acrylite.
3. Build sump, install lights.
4. Figure out a form of calcium supplement.
#4 ------- Check out Bulk Reef Supply, they have a widely used holy grail type 2 part system that works to maintain cal and alk, looking good, remember no hurries, no worries![]()

I added a Korilla(sp?) 4 with my 3 already in my tank yesterday.. WIth my canister is this TOO much flow?
Again, the flow needed is based on what you ultimately want to keep, sps(which with the light you are getting you'll be able to keep)require higher flow, the amount you have right now with the additions, you are fine, if you start heading down the sps road later on, as they grow you will need more flow. You are fine for now![]()

Okay! looks like im set for now!
Well, 2 weeks later and nothing new has happened with the tank. still saving up for the sump and new lights.
3 main updates.
-I got a new fish yesterday, his name is Roger.
-I've decided on a list of things that I am ordering right after track is over.
-The other day one of my friend's dad asked me if I would like to do weekly maintenance on his 1000g tank at his office because his son is off to college and can't do it anymore. I agreed to help.
Good deal, looks like you just found a way to help finance your tank![]()
