Lets see, good PH levels for a saltwater aquarium are like Parrot says 8.2-8.4.Maybe that would work if there was LR in there too?

when you say "lace" rock, are you talking about some type of true "reef" rock, or are you talking about the brown volcanic rock that is very attractive, and has great shapes and holes, that in the trade, is commonly called "lace" rock. It is found on land, in places like Utah, and New Mexico.....great looking rock.
If this is the type of "lace" rock you are planning on using, i would recommend against it, as it has metals in it, and is not ideal for a Reef tank. It will become a hair algae magnet. I don't know how much will leach out, but I'm pretty sure it naturally has copper in it.
I have used it in Fish only thanks with no issues, but the hair algae loved to grow on it....

I swim with them, eat them, catch them, care for them, but never get tired of "them"....

yep, thats the rock i was talking about. My favorite rock to aquascape fresh water tanks with,I won't say don't do it, but I would not recommend it. JMO.
Check your local landscaping rock yards....you know, where you buy bolder size rocks, and slate and other large rocks for a landscaping. You can get it much cheaper. I buy mine for .37 per pound.
