You may be in for a real treat, especially if you are an uncured-rock-newbie... like I was a few weeks ago.

    Think sewer of the sea.

Be prepared to do this in your garage, if that's a possibility.

Also have an ammonia test kit ready, and start making water for changes, daily at first.

I picked up a spare 32 gallon garbage can at Home Depot, and filled it to the rock height + a few inches.

I cured 60# of LR in my bedroom and didn't smell a thing. You shouldn't have a problem.

May I ask where you got this rock from, ChemGuy? If it was a raw rock from an online vendor just transshipping it then you could have cycle it outside of the tank and deal with the hair algae there. If it came from someone's tank then I would question it's origins and how it was used.

In any case, as guys had stated already, you can combat it with some hand removal and clean up crew. I would try using a sea hare after couple of weeks if all other crew members fail to clean up this mess.

PS. Hair algae is not necessarily part of the cycle, as we know it, I never had any hair algae during or after cycle was completed. You may have it (if your rock is filthy and conditions are perfect for it to grow) and then again you may never see it. I never did.
Also yellow tangs helped ot a lot in eating the hair algae up

Re: Here is my 90 gal setup.

    Two things bothering me.
    1. I have lots of brown junk?? all over the place. I scrape it off siphon it off but it still persist.
    Pictures below.

    2. I have had live rock (uncured ) curing for about a week now 80 degrees with good circulation.
    No NH3 yet ??????

What do l you folks think? good/bad?

Re: Here is my 90 gal setup.

The brown junk is more than likely diatoms, all part of the program, with good tank maint. it will fade away as you move forward, once it has exhausted it's munchies, we've all had it, and will probably see it again, I'd let the rock cure another week or so just to be safe
    Tanks,
