Looks like a bristleworm. Unless they grow huge, they are usually a good thing to have in your tank.

It could be some species of Ribbon Worm, or some species of phyllodocids. Doesn't look too much like a bristle worm if you ask me.

No it is not a nemertean, it is a little bristle worm that are quite common and are very beneficial member of the detritivore guild. I would put it back in the tank, Joe. ;)

rluix, what made you think it is a nemertean or a member of the phylodocid group?
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Just because I didn't think it was a bristtle worm, and there are some worms from these species i mentioned that looked like it.

Joe, when it's full grown it will look like this:

Yours is at least a couple of months away from reaching this size.

i had a firefish that died in my tank i saw my bristle worm eat it. it was quite neat, but now its got me concerned about my remaining fish. the bristle worm is about 8-10in right now.
Never argue with an idiot, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Did you see the "bristle worm" eat it while it was alive or after it was already dead?

Do you have any photos of your "8-10in bristle worm?" There are several thousand different worms that can be called bristleworms, so it helps if you can narrow down your description a little. If it is a common Eurythoe complanata, then it shouldn't cause any problems. However, there are quite a few "bristleworms" that can cause problems, so it's impossible to comment one way or the other without knowing what we're talking about here.
