Yeah I know the sand is still white. I don't know if the refugium is doing it or the lawn mower blenny or the sand sifting snails
How I just ran into a problem my new skimmer is out and the air pump is dead. I hope it is ok to go without a skimmer for a few days while I work on warranty replacement
Something interesting just happened after my skimmer has been off for 24 hours
I had polyps that would not open about 2 months and now they are open. What is up with that and can anyone make sense of that
I've got to agree with twisty.
Softies prefer somewhat nutrient rich water to grow in, while sps and lps require higher quality water, cleaner, to grow, when mixing the two it is really hard to find a perfect balance.![]()

So my new pump was shipped for free and I will have the skimmer back up and running
My maybe I will start spot feeding some of these polyps
I guess it is better to have a clean tank than not
that would help with the zoas and other polyps for sure. i spot feed oyster feast a few times a week and give them a squirt of mysis, ocean nutrition, and bloodworms occasionally too. i think it helps them alot when they are in a clean tank. very rarely do mine close up since i started feeding them that way, i think the oyster feast is the best though, when they get that, the colors really pop![]()
I also have to thanks Enrico at aquacave.com for great service. This is the second time I had a problem and they took care of it right and had the manufacturer send a new item to me right away.
