    Dear Ninong ... C Balance - 2 little fishes

    Hi Ninong

A question regarding C Balance by Two Little Fishes, hoping you could clarify.

I see many people dosing C Balance with the same proportions of Part A (liquid calcium component) and Part B (liquid alkalinity component), I;m curious if I have low calcium levels and high alkalinity ... is it possible to add just part A until reaching the calcium level needed without adding equal amounts of part B? (and vice versa)

    Thanks in advance,

P.S. I added the 60lbs of aragonite yesterday and checked my nitrite and nitrate levels again ... none detected !!! .... i thought this was weird.... does it have anything to do with the sand? Since I changed my water many days before and I measured and still had somewhat high Nitrates .... or it is possible because I removed all the grape Caulerpa?

Just to add some more info ... I added the part A solution and my calcium raised from 380 to 420 and Alkalinity fell from 11 to 8 ( without dosing part B)

C-Balance is designed to be added in equal parts; however, you should adjust this dosage to suit the conditions in your aquarium. If your calcium is too low, add more of the calcium component than the alkalinity component. For example, instead of adding three parts of each, add four parts of the calcium and just two parts of the alkalinity until you are satisfied with the results. Just remember to not rush things.

I doubt that adding new sand had much to do with your nitrate readings. It takes time for such measures to have any effect. There are probably other explanations for your sudden improvement in nitrate readings.
