    Xenia maddness

About two months ago I put a small specimen of xenia in my tank. Being new to the whole soft coral thing I went for one that was "easy" to care for too test the waters, so to speak. Well it certainly has lived up to its reputation. It has quadrupled in size and is on the move. I guess one poitive note is that it's quite healthy. It's not out of control yet, but it won't be long.

Do you just go in there with an aquarium glove and start pulling some out? Or is there a better way?

Any body want some? Live and learn

If you try to pull it out, it will just turn to mush and slime and then perk right back up. I even tried scissors and of course, it like the hair cut and just grew right back. The way I got mine under control was to get a bunch of rubble rock, set it on the wandering xenia, or right next to it so that it would attach itself to the rubble and then remove it. I know that some people use a syringe filled with vinegar to remove other pesky corals such as mushrooms. You just don't want to do it too often or too much or you will change the stable parameters of your tank. I still have xenia in my tank but it is only on one rock that is separate, on the sand bed and away from the main rock. If I ever see a piece trying to wander, it will definitely meet it's maker!

    So much violence

Welcome to the wonderful world of a noxious weed as my great sage likes to refer to it as, he recommends using it for driveway filler:eek3::eek3::eek3::eek3:
