I think they are worth it!![]()
Do many of you guys have these?

Just when I'm about to pull the trigger, I realize I can save hundreds with a conventional powerhead.
But then the thought of the wire and extra bulk inside my tank, and less control over the flow, and the idea of a conventional powerhead seems disappointing.
And the VorTech pumps are so cool! Oh, but expensive. Shoot, here I go again...
I have a 75 FOWLR, but assume I'll upgrade to at least a 180 in the next few years. Are the VorTechs overkill for a non-reef system?

If I had money to burn, I would buy two of those.
Badass design.....and functionality seems flexible with the adjustable flow.
WAAAAYYYY too expensive for my budget. I would rather spend the money on livestock.
Cool looking pump tho....
Check out the youtube videos for this pump...
Decent video, annoying sound:

This might be a dumb question but can you start with one to get some benefit? I would love to add this to my upcoming 180g reef, but might not be able to get two right away. I can do one and than buy another one 4 months later
To me, being a cheapo, the same thing can be achieved with some Koralia powerheads if you want wider flow. Friend of mine at the store I go to had his "fixed" way too many times so he said never again will he buy one. I can buy 20 of the regular Koralia4 for the price of this pump and replace those cheaper ones every year. But, I'm bein an el'cheapo lately, so form your own opinions.
Kind regards,
Gene.

Well I dont like spending the money but after looking at the videos of the tide it makes it is badass.
My plan now is to get my original plan of the K4's with my new 180g and in about a year when I got some good population of corals than I will look into these.
It would be stupid for me to buy them now with a bare tank.
I dont just like the wave affect I like the clean look without the wire inside the tank.
I'm about to succumb to reason and pull the trigger on a Koralia Evolution, 1050 GPH, $45 at MarineDepot:
Hydor Koralia Evolution Circulation Pump/Powerhead
I figure I'll put it in the upper corner of my 75 gallon FOWLR where it won't be noticed too much, and the cord will barely be in the tank.
At least the VorTech has me feeling like the Koralia is dirt cheap.
I'll get the VorTech for my next tank. Or maybe when my tax return shows up in my bank account. ;)
I'm still waiting for Charlie to get his running![]()
As soon as I win the Lotto I'm gonna pick up a couple of vortech's.![]()
LOL.... had to revisit this thread...
Just bought a vortech MP10es yesterday. this thing is awesome. I removed 4 koralias from my standard 55gal and the display looks way better already, without all the powerheads in there.
Still messing with the flow patterns though.
Since my tank is full of livestock, I am now concentrating on upgrading equipment and keeping water parameters at best possible. No more livestock for awhile, time to growout what I have.
Will post updates as i continue to mess with the different flows.
