So my wife and I were at the LFS a month ago and saw an elegance coral. I told her it was hard to take care of and that a lot of them were dying. I told her I had thought about getting one, and I had read a lot about them. Well, her tax return showed up the next morning and she got it as a gift for me. The elegance did great for a few weeks, but it hasn't opened for the last five days. 2 mornings I came home from work to find my Luzon starfish attached to it's skeleton, not eating it, just attached to it. The first time I took it off, the second time I moved the starfish to the sump and did an Iodine dip on the elegance. Later that night it was almost fully open and looking much better. The next day it didn't open at all, so I figured I'd leave it alone. The next day I did another Iodine dip on it. The last couple days it's only sticking some of it's tentacles out, slightly open. It has been I assume shedding tissue, white stuff coming out of it. I have moved it to low light low flow locations, and higher light higher flow locations. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions? Tonight I'm gonna do another iodine dip with a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide. I read that on reefcentral. Should I just give up on the little fellow before it fouls the tank? Is there something else I should do?
