Maybe, maybe not. You probaby won't see it when and if it happens anyway. Just as you may not see it when your camelback shrimp eats your corals. However, camelback shrimp are corallivores. Maybe it won't if it finds a lot of other food in the tank but they do eat coral polyps in the wild. And in captivity.

It was about twenty years ago.

That's why I don't have Camelbacks anymore, I had them when I had a 125g fowlr twenty years ago.

Re: Skunk cleaner shrimp and peppermint together?

I have seen some unlucky people who were sold camelback shrimp that they were told were peppermint shrimp. I guess the LFS couldn't tell the difference.

I here that all the time "you can't tell the difference" there's a big difference to me. You have to be blind not to see the difference. There a lot brighter red for one and I've never seen a Peppermint with white stripes either.

I think the problem probably comes in when the LFS person is new and the hobbyist-buyer is brand new, too. Maybe neither one of them knows what a peppermint shrimp is supposed to look like.

That and they would sell you anything anyway, most of them anyway.

Well, I have 3 drip-acclimating right now. $12 for three at my LFS. Steve your LFS stinks. ;)

He says they are wurdemanni, I hope he's right.

Are you smarter than a fifth grader your typical LFS employee? You could be. Lysmata wurdemanni and L. rathbunae are very smiliar, except that L. rathbunae doesn't eat Aiptasia. Check out this post before you go, not that it will help you any unless you have very good vision and the peppermint shrimp cooperate by remaining still long enough for you to look at them carefully. (P.S. -- I just noticed that you already have them. Good luck identifying them.)

Or, for the truly geeky, check out this 40-page paper describing FOUR new species of peppermint shrimp from that region. Note that all four of these new species were previously mistaken for either L. wurdemanni or L. rathbunae.

Good luck figuring out what you have unless they're captive-bred specimens from ORA.

P.S. -- That makes a total of six different species of peppermint shrimps from the same region.

    I just might read that.

Although if they develop a taste for the hydroids in my tank, I won't care if they're peppermint, spearmint, or wintogreen.

No actually you stink. The average price for Peppermint shrimp online is $8-$9 and online is always cheaper than the LFS shipping excluded. So actually the $8 apiece I payed is not a bad price. So for saying that my LFS stinks because you got yours for $4 apiece ( I think your lying about that) may your tank fill with aiptasia.

Sure, I've got nothing better to do than make up lies about my peppermint shrimp.

By the way, today all of my aiptasia and hydroids are gone, and one of my uglier pieces of rock was chiseled into a miniature statue of Poseidon overnight.

My shrimp have also multiplied, and I just had a delicious peppermint shrimp cocktail for breakfast!

These are the most kickass shrimp ever!!!

I looks like the Peppermint shrimp and the Skunk cleaner are doing great and the aiptasia is gone. For now.
