    Blue Ridge Coral???

Very neat coral . Pretty small polyps, not really sure if is sps or lps. It seem to have a semi soft mat, which the polyps retact in to similar to star polyps. The mat is a dark brown, with white spots where the polyps are. If you turn it over the bottom side is brown fading to white then to a bright blue!!!! And the guy at the lfs said it attach itself by way of encrusting to the substrate. Anybody know anything about this cool creature.???? Real name sps lps ????

Neither. It's a hermatypic octocoral. It prefers strong lighting and strong currents but will tolerate moderate lighting and currents. (According to Eric Borneman in Aquarium Corals, page 114)

One other thing to note. The blue color is dead skeleton, so even though it's a pretty color you don't want to see too much of it! I haven't tried one yet, my LFS said they could be difficult to keep, although Julian Sprung's book gives them a high rating for hardiness.
Maybe one of the days, another LFS I go to usually h as them.

Hi , here's a picture of the one I've had for about a year and a half. They do seem to be rather hardy ,and spread out rather fast.Mine's under 400 watts and seem's to like it fine.
