    Donut/ Meat coral problem

Ive got a large donut coral that opens up 10+ inches per day, I feed it twice a week, have never had any issues with it other than one thing, ther are small white dots clustered up all over the outside portion of the flesh, like a ring around the whole thing. Im not worried about it dying or anything they have been there for a long time, but could it be bleached out? Ive got it at the very bottom of my tank in the sand.. And the white dots are nothing on the coral, no sand, bugs or anything like, its just pinpoint sized white spots in the tissue

Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm no expert.

    Scott,

You wouldn't have a picture of the coral by chance? And, does the area of this "pinpoint size spots" ever increases? And last question would be were this spots present when you first obtained this coral?
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Sorry for the long delay, I am in the military and had to go on a training excercise. Ive got a 72 gallon bowfront, with a 48" sunpod with 2x 250W 14k DE MH. The coral is on the bottom of the tank so it's probably 36" from the light. Yes it do have the spots when I got it, they havent gotten bigger at all, but they have spread.

Ive had the coral for over two years though. Im about to trade it for a sump though up at the shop where I work and it'll go in our 900 gallon reef. We just put a 14" vlamingi tang in it yesterday that thing is sweet.

    Scott,

I wouldn't worry about it too much since th spots themselves are not getting larger, only spreading. I also don't believe it is a loss of zooxanthellae, although a picture would be nice to see.
Glad to hear it is going into a larger tank, being 10+ inches in size it needs a lot more space.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Yes it does need a bigger place haha, it could not open up all the way in my tank but itll have plenty of room in the next. I'll try to get a pic up on here before too long just to show what it is.
