You do realize that a Snowflake eel eats meat and small fish like damsels are meat. Don't be to surprised if a fish in his tank disappears one day. A 30 is a minimal sized tank for a eel, in captivity a Snowflake eel will grow to about two foot. I don't know which tank you plan on adding more fish to but both tanks are not that big. A 30 should not have more than about 4 0r 5 small fish and definitely no big fish, same for the 20 but only about 3 small fish. If you want to keep corals you don't want a large bio-load, combining a large bio-load and the higher lighting corals need is a disaster waiting to happen. You should never have large predatory fish in a reef aquarium unless it is very large due to the higher nitrates caused by feeding such fish. If you put small fish in with the eel, please take video I gotta see this.

Re: Today Is The Day I Start My 30 Gallon Reef

lol ive had my eel with the damsel for about 4 months now w/ no problems...i must just have a good eel lol ...and the fack that eels will eat crustations and small fish....well the sally-light foot crab is fine and has been fine along with the damsel....i think if my guy wanted them too be lunch he would have already ate them a long time ago.....the damsel does hit tail "butting" right too the eels face, nothing happens ever but the eel retreating...he only eats shrimp,i have tried everything from snowcrab meat, mahi mahi, & reef chromis...(even live chromis in a clamp)he's not ate nothing but frozen shrimp....now putting him in with a bunch of fish i think he would eat would be a waste of money...but so far so good...anytime if it were too happen he'd be moved too a different tank....but when he gets too a certin length he's moved out of my tank anyways, too my neighbors, who has successfully bred many types of sw fish and got a pair of his zebra morays too mate and spaw in his 240 gallon reef tank...(which nobody has reported them spawing in the home aquarium ever).he sold most now i think he has 4 or 5 in his tank but only 1 baby...he will be getting mine when he gets too big...and he will try 2 breed them....who know what will happen with that......but as far a the high lighting with the bio-load & keeping corals good call cause it slipped my mind at least the lighting/bio-load part

Sometimes I'm good for something. I'm glad your Snowflake is neighborly, that surprises me.
