Hmm never made the connection haha I did have an engineer goby haha
No clue Bob, never seen anything like that before. Kind of interesting though, hopefully one of the more experienced reefers will be able to ID it.
I think I saw that on the movie "Cocoon"
I know the pieces fit, cause I saw them all in place
Ok got an update on the dryer vent/cocoon/alien thing. I was moving a rock around to add an umbrella leather and found another one of these things. The segments are actually not connected their about an 1/8th inch apart but they both have the same number of segments, I'll get a new set of pictures up when the camera charges. I'm thinking egg sacks but I don't have any aliens to lay eggs so I'm still lost.
Your probably right, I think there egg sacks too. It seems most eggs are colored white whether in water or on land. What exactly do you have in your tank Bob? My Cerith snails just laid eggs, but they look nothing like that.
Fish:
flame angel, long nose hawkfish, green mandarin, maroon yellow stripe clown, green bar goby, purple strip dottyback, lawnmower blenny, couple damsels.
Inverts:
2 different pairs of conchs, turbo snails, bubble bee snails, nassarius snails, emerald crabs, peppermint shrimp, cleaner shrimp, banded coral shrimp, hermit crabs, brittle star, long spine urchin.
That should be it I thinkI'm sure none of the corals could be apart of it.
As long as their not some demented coral eating creature I'll be pretty content on keeping these things
Take a look at this link Bob...

Looks like you may either have Conch or Whelk eggs.
Very interesting Metalhead, I think you might of cracked the caseIf it's conch eggs then I should have oh say about 9 million when they hatch haha.
I had a long nose (fish) many years ago, obviously yours gets along with shrimp too. You can rule out the fish. The conchs are sand bound pretty much at least mine is. You can also rule out the shrimp, crabs, urchin, snails and brittle stars I have just finished researching them. That leaves you with the unknown or the possibility that they are not eggs??????????
Righteous!
I noticed you're also keeping bumble-bee snails... I've always heard that they are hard on copepod/amphipod populations so if that's true they may be competing with your Mandarin for food. Just something you may want to keep an eye on or check into. Probably wouldn't be too much of a problem unless you have a large number of them in your tank though I would think.
Yeah my long nose gets along with everyone, he pretty much stays perched on my mag-float scraper until feeding time. My fighting conchs stay sand bound but the other 2 which I think are queen conchs do every now and then slink on the glass and rock but the location of these sacks are in too small of an area for them to get to. I'm hoping for conch eggs I heard their a delicacy.
Metal I got about 6 or 7 bumbles, I keep them mostly in the fuge. I've heard their bad on a lot of things but so far so good. I've had them for about 7 months I can't tell if their good or bad just look neat slinking around. But I was thinking of trying to pair up my Mandarin so I might want to watch out for the pod population.
I don't see that being a problem. I just wonder if they are queen conch eggs if they hatch if they'll be eaten before they can mature?
