    Re: ID needed

My first thought was brown algae but after I zoomed in and had a better look, it seems that a couple of the brown spots actually have a structure to it. The larger spot near the center has a cup shape and to the right of it another one has the same shape developing. I don't think it is a coral, but possibly a fungi of some sort.

I don't think there harmful themselves, but you may not want them to spread through out your tank.

Life isn't over yet, cheer up. Most hitchhikers are not harmful but I do realize your concern, I would be too.

I did a little researching and came up with using Mithrax Sculptus crabs for control, they seem to work pretty good. Also once it matures into a leaf, you can peel it off the rock with your hands.

    Re: ID needed

I saw that also , a little afraid it will eat other things in the tank corals/inverts/fish not sure if it's a big threat however.
Also I read that the Naso Tang likes to eat this stuff but not appropriate for my 90 gal.
Looking for other solutions before it gets out of hand, but I may have to go with some hand pealing and maybe the crab.
    Thanks
