Nice tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That must be a recent clip with David giving the little pep talk. There are several video clips of that tank that have been put up over the years.
I like this video clip better.
That tank has been around for some time. It has been featured in several books. Often with incorrect information as to it's dimensions and volume. David has made changes to it over the years and even re-started it once, several years ago. He also increased the size of the sump dramatically and added a second sump that I believe is located some distance away from the display aquarium, but the main display tank has remained unchanged.
I posted that link in a thread that Scott started back in October 2008. I know that I have posted the correct dimensions somehwere, perhaps on Reef Central, but I'm not sure if I can find them all that easily. Let's just say that the dimensions are incorrect in at least two different publications and in several threads.
P.S. -- I discussed that tank in this thread from 2006. I know I gave the exact dimensions somewhere but I believe it was on that other board.

Here's an article in the Daily Mail in March of this year. They have the volume correct but their dimensions are just estimates. The tank is sometimes described as U-shaped but that's not exactly true. It's more L-shaped.
Anyway, that article has a photo of the living room in David's London flat that gives a better impression of the tank's location.

Not bad for a Brit, Ninong.![]()
I have no idea how many forums I belong to. I just googled for "David Saxby's Aquarium" and came up with something that looked promising. The link was to a reefing board in the U.K. I tried to click on the pdf file with the September 2009 review of Saxby's tank but it told me I had to be a member. So guess what? I entered my board name and my same password and it let me in. It told me my last visit was back in 2005.
I'm even registered to a French board and at least two German boards. Plus one Italian board, two Canadian boards, one Australian board, a board in Thailand (they have an English language forum), a board in Hong Kong (English language forum) and who knows how many others. I tried to register to a Japanese board but didn't succeed because there was no English forum and I know almost no Japanese at all, especially in written form. I know how to say hello, good-bye, thank you and how are you in Japanese. That's about it.
Okay, here is a technical review of David Saxby's aquarium that appears to be up-to-date with all of his new sumps. That's a 13-page pdf file on that U.K. bulletin board. I had to log in to access it. I hope you can download it from my link. Let me know if it works for you.
P.S. -- Okay, I just put up a post on that U.K. board and it turns out it was my first post. It said I have been a member since April 2005. I "borrowed" a couple pics of David's tank from that thread across the pond. LOL

Check out that technical review. It's quite detailed.

After searching for newer videos, I came across two more that you can view in HD if you click on the 720p HD icon. Viewed in 720p HD and full-screen really makes a difference.

I believe David restarted his tank again in 2008. At least that's what I read on a U.K. board. If that's true, then that would be his second re-start because I'm pretty sure he re-started it several years ago.
This is his website. David is now a major stockholder in D-D Solutions. They specialize in Deltec equipment, which is why David changed to Deltec several years back.
P.S. -- After he added all those extra sumps and all that new equipment, his nitrate dropped to 2 ppm. It was listed as 20 ppm in a book that was published more than 10 years ago and then 10 ppm in a book published a few years later but I think that was before he added all those new sumps.
