    Re: Help!!

There is no way to answer your question without knowing the composition of the dye. It could contain a lot of weird chemicals with five-sylable names or it could contain nothing but organic vegetable dyes.

Always remember Rule #1: The solution to pollution is dilution.

Do large water changes every few days and the problem, assuming there is one, should go away.

    Good luck!

    Re: Help!!

if you can't do the water changes as Ninong suggested, can you at least get some carbon running, that might help some...

Yes, run carbon immediately if you aren't already doing that.

    Re: Help!!

sorry for double post but i forgot to add

the ammo was slightly up because i swapped out a diy protein skimmer i made with a used one i bought (prizim pro delux) off a friend (who has a very healthy tank btw) and let it sit for about a day or so before adding it so it could have caused a small ammo increase...

and it was about time to do a water change anyway so .... lol

but its looking much better although to two small coral frags i have in there arent looking so great at the moment...(softies)

That can't be right. If your ammonia was really 10 ppm, your nitrite and nitrate would be off the charts. Also, there wouldn't be anything alive in your tank.

    Re: Help!!

You are right Ninong, either he miss posted or misread the test results, or the dye that got this thread started is more toxic than hoped and it's starting to take its toll on the tank

    Re: Help!!

High ammo could be false positive from dye - many dyes are amines.

Hmmm... now that the tank is full, I could convert the pool to saltwater...

    Re: Help!!

good call guys....now that the ammo is outta my tank....reading almost 0.. things are doing better... rites were 0 and rates were 2mg/l...my ph has stabalized although my salinity is now 1.023 im guessing from the water change...but all seems fine and healthy in there...also i prolly did read the test wrong....i have trouble seeing some colors
