Question Peppermint Shrimp Molting?

I have just added a peppermint shrimp. I have actually added a total of 6 over the past several days.

Has anyone ever seen one molt? I have seen the exoskeletons but never actually saw in happen. The reason I am asking is I added 6 the other day and I appeared to lose 3 within the first couple of hours. I promptly removed them from the tank and checked all water parms. I noticed the next day a exoskeleton of one that had molted. So today I added another shrimp, it has become rather still for a shrimp but its not dead. I re-checked water parms and everything is good, am=0, no2=0, no3=0, ph-8.3, calc=350, alk =9.5dkh, sal=1.027, temp=78. I am curious if the shrimp is actualy molting? I think if this is so I may have tossed the others too soon. What characteristics do molting shrimp have?

These were nice looking large shrimp that had been at the LFS for over a week. They were marked @5.00 ea which I consider a great deal.

Shrimp died, crabs were begining to eat it.

Why?

I acclimated for over 2 hrs adding water every 15 minutes.

This is purely my own personal experience, but i never have had much luck with slow acclimation with peppermint shrimp. They seem to freak real easy . I float them in the bag for 30 min while every 5min add a baster full of tank water. At the end net em and dump. Havent lost one since. They also have never seemed to go through that phase where they turn black and loose color till they get acclimated. Anyways just my opinion.

I have yet to keep a peppermint shrimp alive more than two hours, even after a careful acclimation. But then I've had a heck of a time with cleaners and coral bandeds lately, too. I have some sort of bad shrimp karma.

Well I may have found a potential problem. I have several snails that were dead/dying that I removed this morning. They stunk quite bad, but I still have no sign of Am.

They were Astrea Snail which cant turn themselves back over. I know not to buy these anymore

Im not sure why they are diying, but ime, after a pep shrimp molts it is ready for mating, and as these guys like to do that, the molting in my tank was usually a good sign that my new live food source was on its way?
This is just my experience though?????
