Wow! Eighty pounds sterling ($124.28) is an extremely good price for that tank. Don't forget, when you talk about products that are not available in the U.S., you should explain what you're talking about in American English. The Juwel Rio 300 aquarium is not a product that is sold over here. And most Americans will not realize that the 300 part describes its size in liters.
The dimensions of the tank are 121L x 51W x 62H cm. In American English that's 47.6"L x 20.1"W x 24.4"H.
The manufacturer describes the tank as having a volume of 300 liters. That's 79.25 gallons (US gallons, not Imperial gallons). However, if you use the exterior dimensions given by the manufacturer, you come up with 382.6 liters, or 101 gallons.
The manufacturer is probably using actual water volume, not the phony volume you get when using exterior dimensions. However, over here it's the exterior dimensions that are used to describe most tanks. The one U.S. manufacturer that I can think of that uses net water volume to describe their tanks is Tenecor.
On an American board we would describe your tank as being a 101-gallon tank that cost you only $124.28 including both tank and stand. I have to provide translation for the locals because Americans suffer from extreme metric-phobia. They refuse to deal with liters or centimeters, to say nothing of kilometers. Several years ago all of our highway signs were in both miles and kilometers but that idea didn't last long at all. People complained that it was un-American, so the government gave up on that. We are doomed to be the only country on the planet still using the English king's foot as our unit of measure. Now that's really un-American.
P.S. -- We have a problem with this new software upgrade. It does not accept the percent sign or the British pound sign. I will have to ask Zach to look into that. What's happening is that if you go back into your post to correct any typos, then all of your symbols disappear and are replaced by their keyboard code numbers when you post the edited post.

thanks for the the breakdown ninong. this is going to be my seconds tank. i have sorted out a skimmer of the tank its a deltech mce 600 don't know if u have that in the us but it is one of the best skimmers u can buy in the uk
Oh man, i would ran around naked to get a deal like this![]()
Would you live in a moderate size house with no bathroom? if not, then do what is right! Let your tank cycle for one month. Respect the fish! ;)
peacock,
Did any equipment come with it besides the tank and the stand for the £80?
Ninong
no m8 just the tank and stand brough a skimmer for it. its going to be a slow build and some stock from my other tank is going in to it
It's still a VERY good buy. It looks to be in great shape.

little bit of a update hopefully should be picking the skimmer up 2nite and might get a few bags of sand at the weekend. don't know which way go with flow thinking bout getting either 2 korilia 3 or 2 k4 don't know yet tho. lights think i'm going get the t5 hood for going go for the new hood which will house 4 t5's. then its down to filtration think i'm going get a external filter fill it with lr rumble and use it for rowaphos and carbon. i know u can use the mce 600 skimmer for putting carbon or rowaphos in so that another plus. going have a deep sandbed and going add bout 20 kg of lr and i have 14 kg in my tank so think 34 kg should be enough might get abit more depending on the scape.
haven't right though bout livestock at the min. well thats the plan for now anyway.
new skimmer
