    Help?? Bubble tip anemone

I have had this bubble tip anemone in my tank for about 3 months. I got a new light before I went on vacation in July. The anemone was fine before I left and put the new light in. Now it is completely bleach and all scrunched up its about the size of a dime when closed, It is still attached and the clowns are still going in it. so I know it is still alive. When the moon lights come on it looks better and opens to about a size of a quarter. I dont know what to do with it. Im go to attach before and now pics any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

In the first image it looks like you have two anemones in there. Is that correct?
If so, what is the other one called? If they are two different species of anemones you may be having some type of chemical warfare going on.

If they are both E.quads then there are other questions I would like to ask. However, I am late for work and will get back to this later on tonight.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

    Hi dgotch,

I asked zhenya to take a look at this thread for two reasons: (1) he has better eyesight, and (2) he has kept literally hundreds of bubble tip anemones.

In the meantime, I would like to ask you a couple of questions so that he will have that information available when he comes back on the board this evening.

How long as this tank been set up? I realize you have had the anemone for three months but how old was the tank when you added the anemone?

I got a new light before I went on vacation in July.
What was your old light and what is your new light? Did the wattage increase? Did the Kelvin rating change?

I'm afraid I can't make out what's going on in your pictures but it looks to me like you have a different anemone (not a BTA) very near the BTA. I'm talking about the anemone that is pointing down from the live rock. I'm not going to hazard a guess at an identification from that one picture because it's rather blurry and my eyesight is not good but what did the store call it?

P.S. -- I just realized that the different anemone is in the first picture but not in the second picture. In the second picture, it appears like there is a plastic plant blocking the spot where the other anemone used to be. Do you still have that other anemone in your aquarium?

I can say for sure that it isn't E.quadricolor, you can see clearly verrucae on the underside of the column. Could be M.doreensis or perhaps one of the Heteractis species.

Anyway, this leads me to believe that there was some warfare going on in there, being that anemones were so close to one another.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

    Hello,
The new light appears to have been more intense and bleached the anemone. It will recover overtime. Is it still eating?

    HI Kevin,

I direct you to the same thread started by this same poster. I guess he didn't like our answers there and started another thread? Or maybe he had problems starting the thread?

    Gene,

The two threads were posted just five minutes apart, so it had nothing to do with anyone's answers. It could have been an accidental double post or it could have been that the topic starter wanted to simply matters by reposting with only two pics instead of four.

In any case, I have now merged the two threads into one.

    Hello,
The lower anemone with the red foot I'm fairly certain is a M. doreensis and can reside without ill effect with E. quadricolor.

    Cheers,
