    ID please on snail growths

Are these parasites? Should they be removed, if so, any special way of going about it? I have a half dozen snails in the tank with at least one of these growths on them. A little hard to see from this angle, but they are tiny pinkish spirals and seem to be getting larger in the last couple weeks since I first noticed them.

Looks kinda like Pileolaria (tube worm) to me but not sure. Same stuff that grows on your glass. Never seen it on a snail before though.

I'll let the experts answer though.....

I though snail larvae at first too. They showed up shortly after I started getting a bunch of very small white things with the same shape on the back glass.

Got it...vermetid snails. Probably a sign of overfeeding from what I've read. Anyway, relatively harmless, however can irritate some corrals, and can be quite prolific. Can be thwarted with superglue over the tube opening. I'm pretty sure the first one I spotted came in on my last ricordea add.
I should be able to scrape them off of the backs of my larger snails, out of the tank of course.

wait till your tank is more mature and look at whats on your snails. i have snails that have tube worms, macro, snail eggs, even a few with bubble algae, and coraline, and one with a zoa on it. not sure how the zoa got on it but its pretty cool looking

Yup...most of mine have coraline and other algaes growing on them...I've got one with a tube worm, but zoas? That's just too cool.
