    Tank feeding

I know this is probably a do what works for you kind of answer, but just wanted to see what others might do differently.

So the tank is a young mixed reef 55g with a PJ cardinal, Bicolor angel, and two Ocelaris clowns. CUC consists of 4 large turbo snails, 5 astrea snails, 2 nassarius snails, a couple small hermits, a black urchin, and a coral banded shrimp. There is also an E. Quad BTA, 1 large hawaiian feather duster, and just a couple easy softies, mushrooms, and button polyps, for now.

I feed the fish twice a day. Once with a very light sprinkling of flakes, and 3-5 pellets for the PJ Cardinal (his fave), then again later with about 1/5 frozen cube of either mysis shrimp, or butterfly food. I also feed phyto for the filter feeders, about 25 ml every other day, and turn the skimmer off for an hour afterwards. Besides that, I target feed my nem with silverside chunks every 3-5 days. I seem to be on the razors edge of ovefeeding, as is evident by recurrant, albeit small scale hair algae growth. Betwen the CUC and the Angel, it doesn't have much of a chance to get very far.
If I'm honest, I would back off a little if it wasn't for the Angel. He seems forever hungry and nips at my Kenya tree and feather duster if I stretch the feedings out. He doesn't actually take bites and cause damage, but it's certanly an irritant for those on the receiving end.

Does this sound like a reasonable feeding regimen as far as the fish go, or is it more than necessary? Also, besides trace elements, are there any other coral foods I should add? Would they benefit from zooplankton in addition to the phyto?

    Re: Tank feeding

adding trace is kindof uneeded if you do regular wc's. other than maintaining alk. you really shouldnt need to add anything. phyto is debatable. ive been told by experience reefers that the only thing that phyto does, unless you have a seperate pod culture, is add green to you glass. filter feeding corals get plenty of food from fish waste and the micro pieces of food that you fee the fish. ive always tried to stay away from flake and pellet foods as they have phosphate and other crap. always rinse your frozen foods well, as they also contain unwanted junk. angels are known for nipping at corals no matter how well they are fed, especially sps and softies. i just gave my coral beauty away because of this. as for if you are overfeeding? from what you describe, it doesnt sound like it.
