    Little Milliapede looking worms

I have tons of little milliapede looking worms in my tank. I have an all reef tank at the moment because I had parasites and took all my fish out for a few months to starve the parisites out of my reef tank. I have a few shrimp, crabs, feather dusters, and a few corals. I dont know what these tiny worms are and wondered if they were bad news or something good. I have a picture of it, but I dont know how to add it here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This was posted in the fish disease forum. I have moved it to the Reef Forum where someone there may be able to help you with the invertebrate question.

Im thinking their bristle worms,if so they have their pros and cons, but if you want them out id say use a tweezer because these guys can and will sting, youll have too tweeze out as many hairs from your skin as thats where the pain comes from, and if you do get stung do NOT rub the area as it will dig the hairs deeper into your skin...heres a pic Little Milliapede looking worms-bristle.jpg

Can you be more specific? What size are they? What color are they? Are they on the rocks? On the sand bed? On the glass? How quickly do they move? Are you actually seeing them with the lights on or do you only notice them when the tank lights are off?

Can you be more specific? What parasites? Are you talking about marine ich (Cryptocaryon irritans)? Isopods? What are we talking about here when we say "parasites?"

Okay, from your description so far, they do not sound like what's in the picture TheMarineGuy attached, which appears to be Eurythoe complanata, a beneficial scavenger.

Again, there's no way to say what you have and I don't want to sound alarming but "tons" of "tiny" "millipede-looking" worms doesn't sound all that good to me. Are they white? Are they smaller than 1cm in length? Are they slow-moving or fast-moving? Do they react to light?

One of the ways that you can attach a pircture that you have in your computer is to attach it to your reply in this thread. To do that, simply go to the "Additional Options" box that is located just below the area where you type your reply. Now click on "Manage Attachments." A pop-up window will appear. Click on the top "browse" and then click on "Pictures" in your computer. Now double-click on the picture you want to upload. Now click on "Upload" in the pop-up box. Repeat as necessary if you have more than one picture you want to upload to the same post. You can upload a maximum of five pictures to a single post. Now click on "close this window" in the pop-up.

Now click on "preview post" to make sure your post looks like you expected.

    Good luck!

P.S. -- You can copy and paste pictures that are already on the Internet, including those that are already on this board (e.g., in your gallery), directly into your post and they will appear in full without the little thumbnail. You can't do this with some other sites (e.g., Reef Central) because they don't want you copying pics from their board and posting them anywhere else on the Internet.
